Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Urban Travel: Tool for Evaluating Neighbourhood Sustainability
62142

This study develops a model of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from personal urban transportation given variations in neighbourhood characteristics, including community and housing design, socioeconomic make-up, and locational factors. The main purpose of the study is to develop a spreadsheet tool that enables the user to estimate and compare various neighbourhood scenarios for GHGs from urban travel. The results provide valuable insight into how communities can be designed and planned to reduce GHG emissions from passenger travel in urban areas. (© 2000 CMHC)
