Maximum Performance Testing of Popular Water-Efficient Toilet Models
Approximately one-third of all indoor household water is used for toilet flushing when conventional 13-litre toilets are used. Many consumers are switching to 6-litre models, but it has been found that some certified models do not flush effectively. There is also concern with replacement of the flappers, as the wrong type may lead to lower water savings. This research tested some 44 models in a rigorous simulation of actual usage, and identifies the performance of each model. The research suggests a different standard should be used for testing, to adequately inform consumers of the expected performance. This is the complete research report.
