Laboratory Depressurization Test for Residential Gas Appliances — Part 2
CMHC and Natural Resources Canada have developed a spillage test protocol to assess the potential for depressurization spillage from combustion appliances like water heaters and furnaces. The new spillage test is easy to perform and allows manufacturers to determine the depressurization resistance of their products. In laboratory testing of "spillage resistant" gas appliances, 14 of the 17 tested had less than 2% spillage at 50 Pascals of depressurization.
