2001 Census Housing Series: Issue 14 — Household Mobility and Core Housing Need
This Research Highlight examines household mobility patterns across Canada. Fourteen per cent of Canadian households reported that they had moved at least once during the year prior to the 2001 Census, while about 42% had moved in the five years prior to the Census. Mobility rates for renters were significantly higher than homeowners' rates, and rates tended to decrease with age. Low-income households were more likely to move, and movers were more likely to be in core housing need.
