Elastomeric Membrane Installations in Parking Garages (1992)
Elastomeric membrane systems protect parking garage decks from moisture and chloride ion penetration. This study investigates the effects of a range of installation factors, including surface preparation, application technique, curing humidity and temperature levels, mixing, proportioning of components, and mixing and placement temperatures. It concludes that poor on-site practices and an indifference to quality control are likely to result in questionable performance, such as premature material deterioration, one of the most frequent and serious problems.
