Improved Make-up Air Supply Techniques
63376
As houses become more airtight, natural leakage is not adequate to replace exhausted air. This research examined systems that bring fresh air into the house, and generally found them inadequate. Passive and fan-based techniques were studied, as well as a prototype system built specially for the purpose. Since the publishing of this work, there has been an increasing trend to the installation of backdraft-resistant appliances, due to changes in codes, standards, and industry practice in Canada.
